What We Believe

E-mail Print

We are an Evangelical Protestant Christian church with a Baptist model of church governance. By evangelical we mean that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the centre of our faith. By Protestant we mean that the Bible is the only authority in matters of life, faith and conduct.

DOCTRINAL STATEMENTS

The following summarizes the basic dogma of this church.

  1. We believe that the whole Bible, containing both the Old and the New Testaments, is the inspired and infallible word of God, a revelation of His will to mankind, and is therefore the final authority for Christian faith and conduct (2 Tim 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:21).
  2. We believe in the only true God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, equal in power, glory and majesty.
  3. We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ to be both God and Man, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, was crucified, the just for the unjust, to become the sin offering for the world. By the shedding of His precious blood, He justifies all who put their trust in Him as personal saviour. He was buried and according to Old Testament prophecies, arose on the third day, later ascended on high and seated on the right hand of the Almighty to intercede on behalf of all believers. He will come again to establish His Kingdom on earth and reign injustice and peace.
  4. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person in the Godhead, who indwells in all believers to be their comforter, guiding them to understand all truths. He also causes people to reprove themselves for righteousness and judgement.
  5. We believe the first man was created in the image of God, who later fell because of disobedience. Consequently he was subjected to the suffering of death, both physically and spiritually. From him, all mankind inherited the sinful nature and became separated from God. Their only way of reconciliation is through the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus.
  6. We believe God has completed, through the Lord Jesus, the work of salvation for all people. Whoever is willing to receive the Son will be born again of the Holy Spirit and becomes the child of God.
  7. We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the righteous and the evil people. The righteous will be received into eternal glory; the evil will face judgement and eternal punishment.
  8. We believe the church, as part of the body of Christ, is composed of believers who have been cleansed by the precious blood from the cross, and born again by the Holy Spirit. Her mission is to fulfill the commission entrusted by the Lord to spread the gospel to every nation and to build up the saints in His truth.
  9. We believe it is God's desire that every believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit, so that they can be sanctified, be separated from the evils of the world, and to lead a life of full surrender, total dedication and faithful stewardship. These should be the natural consequences of a person's re-birth.
  10. We believe in the complete redemption through the Lord Jesus, including the healing of the physical body (James 5:14).
  11. We believe in the certainty of the second coming of our Lord. The church must emphasize this important truth and encourage believers to live in expectancy thereof.
